Pre-event participant experience reviews

I review events
before your
participants do.

You know your event inside out. That's the problem. A fresh set of eyes on your communications, joining instructions and registration journey finds what you can't see from the inside.

Works best for Mass Participation Events / Sportives / Cycling Events / Running Events / Charity Challenges

Nicola Harrington
Hi, I'm Nicola

Event manager, runner and cyclist. I've stood in the wrong queue, missed the important email and wondered where I'm supposed to go. That's why I review events from the participant's perspective, backed by more than 20 years in event delivery and operations.

What the review finds

Small details.
Big consequences.

Participants decide how they feel about your event long before they arrive.

A confusing email. Unclear instructions. Information that's missing, buried or open to interpretation.

Individually, these seem minor. Together, they influence whether people book, return and recommend your event to others.

The review highlights these participant blind spots before they start costing you registrations.

Example observation from a review

That's a five-minute fix. The report is full of observations like it.

Pre-Event Experience Review

A focused review of your
event before it goes live.

I step through the experience as an attendee would and identify where things may not land as intended. Best four to six weeks before your event.

I take a focused look at
  • Registration and booking process
  • Confirmation emails and joining instructions
  • Event information and clarity
  • Website and landing pages
  • Pre-event communications
I then identify
  • What's working well
  • What's unclear or easy to miss
  • Where attendees might lose confidence
  • Simple improvements that make things easier and more reassuring
Up to 1,000 participants £950
1,000 to 5,000 participants £1,750
5,000+ participants from £2,500

Most reviews are carried out four to six weeks before an event, while there's still time to make changes.

How it works

Straightforward
from the start.

01
Send me a short note

Tell me about your event, your participant numbers and when it takes place. I'll confirm whether a review makes sense and when I can fit it in.

02
Discovery call

A short conversation to understand your event, your audience and any areas you're already unsure about. This helps me focus the review on what matters most for your participants.

03
Share your materials

Your registration journey, emails, joining instructions and any other participant-facing communications. Everything a signed-up entrant would see.

04
Receive your report

Within five working days: a clear, plain-English report with specific observations and practical recommendations. No jargon, no padding.

05
Make the changes

Everything in the report is actionable. Most fixes take minutes. You'll go into event day knowing your communications have been tested from the outside.

If you need more

In-person and
end-to-end options.

The pre-event review is where most events start. For those that need more, I also offer in-person observation and full participant experience audits.

Event Day Observation
£1,500 – £2,000

I attend your event and observe the participant experience in real time arrival, wayfinding, registration, volunteer interactions, information flow. A short report follows.

Participant Experience Audit
£2,500+

An end-to-end independent assessment of the complete participant journey, before, during and after delivery. Best for flagship events or events undergoing significant growth or change.
